29th August 2011

Have recently discovered my love for 17th, 18th and 19th Century Typography. I am a strong believer in the use of type/calligraphy (when it is done right). I think the stroke of every letter should be carried out carefully to the end. These days people slur the hand writing from one corner of the page to the next without care.

The word Typo - graphy comes from Greece it is the art and technique of arranging type. The arrangement of type involves the selection of typefaces, point sizes, line length and leading or spacing, adjusting the spaces between the groups of letters (or tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kearning). Typography traces its origins to the first punches and dies used to make currency and seals in ancient times.  The typographical principle, that is the creation of a complete text by reusing identical characters.

Here are some of my favorite Typography pieces, they are extraordinary.
